Viva Las Vegas: How To Throw the Ultimate Casino Party

Looking to bring the thrill of Las Vegas to your next gathering? A Vegas casino-themed party is the perfect way to create an unforgettable night of high-stakes fun, dazzling décor, and classic casino games. Whether you’re hosting a birthday bash, a corporate event, or just a night in with friends, transforming your space into a glamorous casino will set the stage for excitement. From poker and blackjack tables to cocktail dress codes and glittering decorations, this guide will help you plan a night worthy of the Vegas strip—no airfare required! Check out how I decorated my daughter's birthday to do just that!

DECORATIONS

Entrance: I always like to begin with decor since it's really the star of the show! We used our basement for this event so we had an entrance that was easy to decorate. Neon lights and Vegas go hand in hand so this "casino" light was perfect for the entrance. Along with a red carpet and fringe curtain. The red carpet I used was not my favorite so I would recommend this red carpet instead.

Photo Opp: It's not at party without a photo opportunity. This Vegas inspired backdrop was a hit. I used a gold shimmer tile backdrop. Depending on the area you may need order another set. For the top, I added a foam pipe covers and inserted black ostrich feathers in them. Then attached a metal light up Welcome to Las Vegas sign. If you need to cover a pole, this sheer table runner worked perfectly. Video on how I made it can be viewed here.

Signs: If you've ever been to Vegas you know marquee's and light up signs are everywhere. So, of course I added some to the decor. You can get marquee letters to create any word or name. I also made these "poker room" and "blackjack signs" to add to the decor. Here is a video on how I made them.

Personal additions: It's always fun to add a personal touch to decorations. Custom poker chips are a fun way to do that. I purchased these from Zazzle and they were amazing quality. These can also be great party favors or keepsakes! Then I printed black and white photos of the birthday girl and her friends. Then used double sided tape to attach them to playing cards. You can put them in vases or tape them to fringe curtains, or even just lay them out on a table for scatter decor.

Fun Jumbo Decorations: Some of these I made and some were purchased. These giant dice from Amazon were easy to put together and filled up space perfectly! Some of my DIY's were these giant poker chips, here is a video on how I made them. Lastly, since there is a sink behind the bar that I wanted to cover, I made these jumbo playing cards. Since she was turning 18 I made a "1" (the ace) and and "8". Link to the video on how to DIY these can be found here. If you don't want to DIY these cards Amazon has some that might work.

FOOD

Refreshments for this party can be fun! We tried to keep the food in colors of red and black. There are quite a few options for candy like these:

The ceramic suit shaped containers from Michaels were perfect for this event. Hurry, they are on sale now and will probably be gone soon!

My daughter saw these cigarette desserts on Pinterest and had to have them, I mean is it really a casino without smoke? LOL. But for real, these are smoke-free and yummy! Here is a video on how I made them.

We also had red a black fruit such as black grapes, blackberries, watermelon and strawberries. and lined them up on a plate to resemble a roulette wheel.

TABLE GAMES

Lastly, the star of the show, the games! We chose to just do poker and blackjack since they were some of the easier games to learn. We already had a poker table so my husband helped with that area. Then we rented a blackjack table from a local company who also supplied a dealer. Other options for games are roulette, craps, pai gow, money wheel, bingo or keno.

If you don't have a local company to rent from, you can purchase felt table tops like these and have someone who is knowledgeable run the tables. Bingo sets are easy and could be kept for use later on as well.

For the chips, we gave each guest $100 in chips to start with. To make these games more fun, we had cash prizes for the 1st and 2nd place guests with the most chips at the end of the night.

If you have adults as guests, you can consider having them "buy" in for the games and that money can go to the pot at the end for the winners.

Here are a few more pics of the party for more inspo!
